Here are some things that you can do to be exceptional

Excercise memory. When you perform test for a patient try to memorize their date of birth. This will strengthen your memory. Verify their name before performing test also. Make sure they are the ones reciting it to you.

Provide Details When you document, be specific and provide directional information ie: Left chest area or Right chest area. Provide the whole date instead of just a day. IE: Pt fell Thursday. Put Patient fell Thursday 8/3/2026. Distinguish between chest pain and chest discomfort.

Dress for success. Make sure your scrubs dont look as tired as you do. Pull your hair together, Cut your nails down and make sure people dont have to wonder if there is Old Bay seasoning under your nails. Smell good but don’t bathe in perfume. Look at people in the eyes. Let people know that you care about them when you talk to them by looking them in the eye a few times. I know you are documenting but dang! Dont forget the patient is there.

Wipe and tidy up after you are done with your shift. Everyone appreciates a clean work environment. Show your coworkers that you care. Clean the nurses station and provide a level of disinfection for everyone.
