Making It Make Sense
In order to be the best medical assistant ever you must learn the fine art of making sense out of EVERYTHING you do. We’re not just pressing buttons here.
As a fire medical assistant you first start by examining each task given and asking yourself: why am I doing this? How does it benefit the patient? How does it connect to their health? And most importantly, what information does my clinician want and need? Why is this the most important thing? Well I’m glad you asked. It’s because your job as a medical assistant is to assist the medical clinician! Duh! Don’t think for a minute that your customer is the patient. Nope! Your customer is the doctor, nurse practitioner or physicians assistant or those who you were hired to serve! You dont have to know every detail but you should try to understand what you are doing and be able to explain it to the patient on behalf of the clinician.
